EMBOLDENED BY A prior, successful convenience store robbery, two suspects tried their luck at a second store; They rushed inside and demanded money from the clerk. Apparently they expected the shoppers in the store to behave as sheep, because they paid little attention to them. One of the suspects drew a gun, pointed it at the clerk and pulled the trigger-it didn't fire. That was when a customer with a concealed-carry permit drew a handgun and shot the clerk's assailant three times. The suspects fled the store but were later arrested while seeking treatment at a nearby hospital. (WFMY-TY, Greensboro, N.C., 10/12110)
